The Dynamic Content Wizard allows you to build dynamic content blocks, images and even subject lines for email marketing messages. Dynamic content can be created with your site’s Content Editor, or directly in the HTML code. The Dynamic Content Wizard is available to all clients, even those who choose to disable the platform’s HTML Editor. This feature is available for all mailing types. Note: Your account settings determine your level of system access. If several of the options and/ or processes outlined in this document are not be available, please contact your site administrator.
Create a Dynamic Segment Set
- Once logged in, click on the Lists tab.
- Click on Dynamic Segment Sets A folder for storing the series of conditions that determine which content block, subject line or image a subscriber will receive based on the defined member attributes. from the options menu. You can also Edit, Clone, Delete and Test the Dynamic Segment Sets from this page by hovering over the Actions column.
- Click on + New Segment Set.
- Enter the name of the segment A segment is saved criteria used to form a collection of members. Segments are dynamic and do not have a static count associated to them. Each time a mailing is sent that targets a segment, it will send to the members who currently match that saved criteria. The criteria can be a combination of data that PostUp tracks automatically, such as Date Joined to List or Date Last Opened, or it can be data that has been loaded into PostUp such as the member’s City or State. set into the Segment Set Title field. Segment set titles that include spaces will not be accepted.
- Click on the Save Set Title button.
- Enter the name of the first segment into the Segment Title field. Segment titles that include spaces will not be accepted.
- Scroll down to the Segment Definition section.
- Add a segment to the set, using the following options:
Select an existing segment from the Choose Segment dropdown menu.
Create a new segment using the Conditions to Match dropdown fields.
Click on the appropriate radio button to make the segment an AND (Match All) or an OR (Match Any) statement. User may also select to create an Advanced query using parenthetical groupings.
- Click on Save Segment. The new segment will appear under the Segments section for the selected set.

Repeat steps 1 through 4 to add additional segments to the Dynamic Segment Set.

[Optional] Move the segments to desired order by using one or more of the options outlined below:
- Click on Promote to move the selected segment up one position. This change will also move the segment’s position in the Dynamic Content Wizard and impact the order which content is served for recipients who fall into multiple segments.
- Click on Demote to move the selected segment down one position. This change will also move the segment’s position in the Dynamic Content Wizard and impact the order which content is served for recipients who fall into multiple segments.
- [Optional] Click on Edit to edit the segment.
- [Optional] Click on Clone to copy the segment.
- [Optional] Click on Delete to remove the segment from the set
Test a Dynamic Segment Set
You can test your Dynamic Segment Sets to confirm that each segment targets the correct member type. Please update the email addresses used for testing to match the conditions used within the segment sets. To do this, go to the Recipient tab, enter the email address and click Find Recipients. Then click on the Recipient ID, and update the fields as necessary. Then click Save.

Log into PostUp, per normal procedure.

Click on the Lists tab.
- Click on Dynamic Segment Sets from the options menu.

Click on the Test icorn, for the selected segment set. The Test Segment Set page will appear.

Select from one of the following options to test the segment set:

Enter one or more email addresses into the Test Addresses field.

Select a Test List from the dropdown menu.

Click on Test Segment Set. The Results section will display the segment that the email address will fall under if the client leveraged this segment set in a mailing.
- Click Back to return to the Lists tab.
Create Dynamic Content and Dynamic Subject Lines
- Log into PostUp, per normal procedure.
- Click on the Send tab.
- Create or edit a mailing per normal procedure.
- Complete the General and Targeting tabs.
- Click on the Content tab.

Enter the mailing creative and subject line, per normal procedure.

To create dynamic content or a dynamic subject line.

Click on the lightning bolt icon next to the Subject field to create a dynamic subject line.

Highlight the text, content or code within the body of the email and click on the icon located in the HTML editor toolbar to create dynamic content.

Note: You may also right click on the selected content and choose the Create Dynamic Content option from the popup menu.

Any one of the options selected in step 7 will open the Choose Segment modal. Select a Dynamic Segment Set from the dropdown menu.
- Click on Choose.

The Dynamic Content Wizard will appear. Based on the selected Dynamic Segment Set, the wizard will create a content tab for each segment. Add content to each segment tab.
- Click Save. Click on the Save As button to save the dynamic content set to the PostUp Content Management System. Either action will close the Dynamic Content Wizard. The lightning bolt icon will appear above the newly configured dynamic content.

Complete and schedule the mailing, per normal procedure.
